ADF-9 is a humanoid-shaped living entity with no discernible morphological features —facial, sexual, or anatomical—, approximately 165 centimeters tall and an abnormally low weight compared to its mass. ADF-9's entire body produces a constant whitish light. This gives ADF-9 an appearance that is described as being 'made of light' although it is a corporeal entity; this general description seems to be consistent with an anomalous phenomenon related to ADF-9.
The entity proves to be blind, unable to vocalize or perform basic survival functions in living beings.

ADF-9 is sapient and appears to possess its own language with which it communicates textually. The characters of the dialect used by ADF-9 are of unknown origin but a comparison has been made with other languages that are quite similar in structure, these being Spanish and English —It seems to be mainly based on Spanish—. These languages have the same number of characters and follow the same grammatical rules, and can be translated after identifying the letter and replacing it to form a word.
